What Have They Become?
The winner of Aspen Shortsfest best documentary 2004, and the winner of Sundance Film Festival short filmmaking award 2004, aka Rize, a movie from 2005, turned 17 this June. However, the memory of it remains fresh in the hearts of many. That being said, 17 years of the actors’ real life have also passed, and that’s a big chunk of time.
If you’re a fan of the movie, we are sure you would be excited to see how well your favorites grew up. Where they are now, how they’re doing, what they’re doing, and what they have become; leave these questions behind because today’s blog post will settle all your curiosities once and for all. So, let’s begin the fun.
Who Are The Star Faces Of Rize?
In case you’ve long forgotten the names of stars that brought a charm to the movie and still shine brightly after 17 years, we’ll remind you. Rize was a documentary movie featuring different Krump artists, the best of their time. Here’s a little throwback, the protagonists of the documentary include Tight Eyez, Big Mijo, Miss Prissy, Lil C, and Daisy. These protagonists helped the world discover Krump, and we’ll now give you a glimpse of their present life.
What Has Tight Eyez Become?
Ceasare LaRon Willis, or the famous Tight Eyez, is the creator of trump and the most influential crimper worldwide. His music videos and movies are recognized worldwide; Willis is now a dancer, krumpographer, creator, and innovator. For six long years after Rize was released, Willis worked day and night to keep Krump relevant. His endless efforts led him to success with movies like Be Cool, Stomp the Yard, and others.
What Are The Whereabouts Of Miss Prissy?
After Miss Prissy kick-started her career with Rize, she went on a tour with Madonna, the legend, and sparked the fire in her career. She was also featured in Vogue Italy back in 2006, that’s only one year after the documentary was released. Now, this is huge, isn’t it? Prissy is currently a part of the Throne Dance Crew and recently made an appearance on the world-famous show Ellen along with some of her crew members.
No wonder she was called the “Queen Of Krump.” And the American queen continues to slay us with her immense moves. Her other notable assignments in the entertainment industry include Stomp the Yard 2007, Alvin and the Chipmunks 2007, Raised by Krump 2016, Madonna: Hung Up, and Madonna: Sorry.
What About Mijo, How’s He Doing?
We didn’t keep you waiting to hear about your favorite for too long, did we? Working with Madonna, Mariah Carey, Beyonce, Jay Z, Megan Thee Stallion, Normani, and many others, Mijo is definitely no less than a brand now. You may know him by the name Calle dbig Mojo, but the co-founder of Krump calls himself Mijo Ratti. He is the real Krump legacy!
And that’s not all. The Krump legacy also has his own merch, some basic yet coop tees that you’ll surely want to get your hands on. You can buy from his shop online, link in his Instagram bio. One thing we must appreciate is his physique; how he takes care of his body is beyond commendable. A role model, to be precise!
Lil C, Is He Okay?
Christopher Toler, aka Lil C, didn’t stop after his appearance in the Krumping documentary film either. He’s an example if you stay true to what you love, you can make a living out of it too. This American dancer turned into a TV show judge, a show named “So You Think You Can Dance.” He also released his album in 2010 called “I Ain’t Takin No Loss” and is a notoriously famous choreographer. The 39-year-old dancer and judge make videos that are no less than a treat for sore eyes.
Long Time No See Daisy, Where Have You Been?
And last but not least, let’s talk about Daisy, a cute name and cute soul. Her most recent music is live on her YouTube channel, streamed almost a year ago, named Dumpster Buck Live. However, we couldn’t help but point out that the fan following or social appearance of Daisy is way less than that of other documentary peers, and for God knows what good reason. Daisy is currently based in Los Angeles; just in case you would like to hit her up, folks!
Bottom Line
All of our favorites sure grew up right and are excelling in their lives with every passing year. Rize was a documentary to watch, especially if you’re a dance freak, and we sure need such innovative movies again. Which combo from the Rize movie would you like to see on screen again? Let us know!
